Black Bean Hummus

I see hummus sold in supermarkets. Pre-made. Why? Hummus is so easy to make. And once you make it you will never buy it again! A few simple ingredients and a food processor is all you need. And you can use literally any kind of beans, add spices to your liking and control the amount of salt and oil… none? That’s how I make mine! And it’s still delicious.

I hadn’t ever tried hummus made from black beans before. Of course, traditionally, hummus is made with chick peas. The black beans produced a much smoother consistency. It was wonderful!

Ingredients:

  • 1 15 oz. can salt-free black beans, drained (I use Eden brand)
  • 1/4 cup raw tahini
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth.
  2. Done!
See? Easy. Serve with whole wheat pita bread, crackers or veggies for dipping.

Serves 2. Enjoy!

They're black sesame rice crackers. You can find them in health food stores or online here:
