All Shook Up Elvis Smoothie

Welcome to Smoothie Week! I hope you will try some of the recipes I’ll be sharing with you over the next seven days. There will be quite an assortment of flavors and types. I’m off to Florida today for the week, visiting my mom for her birthday. I thought it would be perfect a time to share the smoothie love!

I ADORE peanut butter and banana sandwiches! They were Elvis’ signature sandwich. Of course, he also added bacon, which I have omitted on this smoothie. BUT, you can always bake up some shiitake bacon for a garnish if you want the real deal!


I didn’t listen to a lot of Elvis music when I was growing up. It wasn’t until the early 80s, when I became interested in Rockabilly music, that I gained an appreciation for his talent. My favorite Elvis song is Little Sister. What’s yours?


      ~ the smoothie

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups soy milk
  • 1 cup ice
  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 4 dates, pits removed
  • 1 TBS flax meal
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

      ~ the garnishes

  • ¼ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 TBS date syrup (or maple)
  • 1 fresh banana
  • 3 TBS chopped peanuts


  1. Create the garnishes first if you’re using them. Mix the ¼ cup peanut butter with the honey and streak the insides of the serving glasses.
  2. Chop the peanuts very fine.
  3. Slice the banana and dredge in the chopped peanuts. Set aside.
  4. Place all smoothie ingredients in a high powdered blender and blend until smooth.
  5. Pour into the prepared glasses and top with the peanut coated bananas. Finish with remaining chopped peanuts.
Serves 2. Enjoy!

    Ok… so what I've been having as my 'treat' almost EVERY DAY is peanut butter, banana and raw chocolate smoothies. I was feeling kinda guilty about them, but now that you have posted this, I feel less so!
