Cherries Jubilee Smoothie

Cherries Jubilee is a dessert made of cherries in a cherry liqueur that is typically flambéed and served with vanilla ice cream. Well, this frozen smoothie is certainly not going to be flambéed and there is also no alcohol… I am calling it Cherries Jubilee because one of the definitions of “jubilee” (in a loose sense) is a celebration or festival.

Every day is worthy of celebration to me with the healthy and delicious foods that I provide to my body! And this smoothie is, again, something to celebrate with its nourishing, sweet cherries, protein-rich hemp seeds and smooth, ice-cream-like texture. I hope you will try it and enjoy it for yourself!

  • 2 cups frozen sweet black cherries
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups unsweetened soy milk, or other non-dairy milk
  • 2 TBS hemp hearts
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Place all ingredients into a high powdered blender and blend until smooth.

Makes 2 smoothies. Enjoy!

  1. Oh, that looks wonderful! And the addition of hemp seeds give it the extra protein punch!

  2. This looks wonderful Helyn! I made one similar but also add some unsweetened cocoa to it and it's to die for!

  3. Helyn says:

    Sounds delicious, Tami!

  4. Black cherries are 20 / kg here as they had a rough season but got 5kg of the white ones for $40 last week so am going to try with those – froze some….might experiment with cocoa too sounds great. Can I use flax or chia instead of hemp (don't actually have hemp)? Also need to try that chai smoothie instead of my regular hot chai in the am.

  5. Helyn says:

Sure, you can use flax or chia in place of the hemp. I've never had white cherries! Are they yummy?

  6. Made this this am with the ranier (white) cherries – tasted it as was and it was great but with a tablespoon of cocoa it was absolutely superb!!! Feeling so happy!!! Possibly the best tasting smoothie ever (big call from someone who has a smoothie nearly everyday)…..can't wait for your cook and uncook book to come out!

  7. Helyn says:

Yay! So glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

  8. white cherries are fantastic. Sweet and juicy but without the mess of black cherries (believe me with Mr almost 5 and Ms nearly 3 that is a BIG factor – nappy soak not required for white cherries though!!).
