Holiday Smoothie

I haven’t been posting many smoothies these days… come to think of it, I haven’t been drinking many either. There’s just something about consuming an ice-cold, frosty drink on a snowy morning that I can’t seem to warm up to (pun intended!).

But this smoothie has become one of my favorites and I’m sure you will love it, too. Fresh cranberries add a wonderful ZING while the walnuts smooth things out and the sweetness is derived from bananas and o.j. Add a date or two if it’s too sour for you.


  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups orange juice (fresh squeezed is best!)
  • ½ cup raw walnuts
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 TBS ground flax seeds
  • 2 dates (optional)
  • some chopped walnuts and a few cranberries for garnish


  1. Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender and blend until combined. I left mine just a little short of smooth with some bits of cranberry not totally blended.
  2. Garnish with walnuts and cranberries if desired.

Serves 2. Enjoy!

    I had this recipe sitting on my kitchen counter for a week and finally made it this morning. It was fabulous! The walnuts and flax give it "body"; definitely felt like a complete breakfast.
